Acne (pimple)

Acne (pimple)

The sebaceous (oil- producing) glands of people who get acne are particularly sensitive to normal blood levels of a hormone called testosterone, which is present in both men and women.

This causes the gland to produce excess oil, at the same time, the dead skin cells lining the pores are not shed properly and clog up the follicles.

These two effects results in a build up of oil producing blackheads (where a darkened plug of oil is visible) and  whiteheads.

The acne bacterium known as propionibacteriun acnes lives in everyone's skin ,usually causing no problem, but,  in those prone to acne, the build up of oil create an ideal environment in which these bacterias can multiply.

This triggers inflammation and the formation of red or pus- filled spots called acne (pimples)

CAN ACNE BE CURED?

Acne can't be prevented or cured, but It can be treated effectively.

There's no way to prevent acne, there's no cure.

Though acne won't just go away; not treating it can actually make things worse.

Gently washing the face more than twice daily with antiseptic face wash or soap works.

Over-the-counter (OTC) pimple treatments often contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. Prescription medication for pimples includes topical treatment, antibiotics, isotretinoin, and laser and light therapy.

Your dermatologist may prescribe one or more of these:

Antibiotics (helps to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation).

Birth control pills and other medicine that works on hormones (can be helpful for women).

TREATMENT

1. Drink water frequently

2. Don't touch it frequently or prick it immature.

3. Isotretinion 20mg bd x 15 to 20 weeks

4. Gel. Clindamycin phosphate 1.2% + tretinoin 0.025% once daily at bedtime.
